Dr. Brubaker is a native of Wyoming and moved to Morenci, Arizona with his family at the beginning of high school. After graduating he attended the University of Arizona getting his Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry followed by his M.D.
While interested in Primary Care from the outset, he chose to complete a year of Anatomic and Clinical Pathology at the Upstate Medical Center in Syracuse, NY in order to deepen his understanding of the causes and diagnosis of health issues. He then completed his training in Internal Medicine at Maricopa Medical Center in Phoenix and was Board Certified in Internal Medicine in 1985.
After working and teaching in the public sector in both the county and state healthcare settings, he joined Dr. Shostack in 2000. Dr. Brubaker’s interests include preventative medicine, geriatrics and general adult health with a focus on patient centered health care.
He is married to Dr. Susan Vaughan, a licensed psychologist whom he often collaborates with in patient care. They have two grown sons. In his spare time he enjoys mountain biking, spending time in the desert and with his family.
